According to the source, an announcement of a new 787 order is expected sometime before the end of the year. Interestingly, about 60 aircraft order slots have already been filled by a foreign carrier, which canceled their previous 60-tail allocation. The new aircraft are reportedly scheduled to be built starting in Q4 2026.
Additionally, there's chatter that the hunt for LCA and APD (Aircraft Program Development) is underway, with a target class date set for August 26 to get the program moving.
Full disclosure: this information comes from a reputable, but unofficial source, who claims to have been approached to be one of the initial LCA participants.
As always, take this with a grain of caution until official announcements are made.
Looks like Dreamliner rumors are back on the menu, boys!
Also, can I call Crew Scheduling and work a deal with them to secure a 787 LCA slot? I'm sure they could go in seniority order but that's gotta soooo cumbersome.
