The old fashioned way was a scheduler would call ONE person, you wouldn't pick up and they'd leave a message saying you have been awarded such and such trip and if you don't call back in 10 minutes or acknowledge on icrew, they will move to the next person. Then you'd login to icrew, look at the trip and decide if you liked it or not.
Essentially it was a batch size of 1 with auto-accept.
The hate for auto-accept amongst pilots is blowing my mind.
Whiteslips becoming a proffer is more of an issue, but the company agreed to that in the last contract for some reason, so that's not our problem.
the difference is the majority of pilots back then would have in slips with qualifiers and not have in OOBWS in every base fishing. personally I'd just usually answer the phone when they called and they would tell me the trip and i'd decide right then if i wanted it or not. when i said no the move on immediately. we never had these issues. but that being said, i still blame all this on the company since they wanted ARCOS lol
