I've done comparisons when I was going through the hiring process and I wouldn't have retired triple digits at AA, UA or DL.
Correct, at this moment, anyone hired in their mid-low 30s won’t make it to the top 1%.
The only theoretical difference is that in AA you would become senior faster, but then it will slow down significantly after X period of time. But the big issue is that AA is not growing as much as they should. They always claim they will hire 1800-2500 a year and end up with less than the projections. They also claim their fleet is newer and eventually will catch up to dal/ual…but both of these companies are paying cash for new airplanes while making billions a year in profit.
UAL in theory will give you seniority % due to their UAL Next airplanes in order, but your number at the end would be very similar to delta/AA.
DAL sounds like the worst choice in terms of seniority gain, but what people don’t understand is that management doesn’t do big flashy announcements of airplanes. They just announce new routes and small orders here and there. They also look at the used market and will get the best deal they can.
So anyone hired today might not have the seniority progression of someone hired in 2014-2020 and 2022 NHs, but they will have a steady seniority progression for their careers.
I for one am glad we slowed down significantly this year in terms of hiring. We needed a breathing for a second in the line, now I feel most FOs I fly with are very proficient and I don’t have to “mentor” as much.
