Moving back to the thread. I was researching similar groundings. PW 777s were ground for over a year due to the engine failure. Reference United 328. Within 1 day (Feb 22, 2021) the FAA ordered inspections on the engines and Boeing recommended grounding. Within 3 days an EAD was issued. On May 17th the following year the FAA lifted the grounding. I fear the MD11 will not survive being grounded for over a year. It seems like the FAA took an excruciating long time to lift the grounding. Even when United had a plan for re entry into service by April of 21.
