In any merger you have to ask yourself- what does it accomplish?

SWA gets more by letting spirit die than they do by acquiring them. I don't mean to be heartless, I hope every spirit pilot lands on their feet, but putting hope in a rumor will only disappoint you.

If they merged, SWA would gain marginally useful gates/slots and a highly leveraged fleet of airbuses that do the same thing their current fleet does. In addition, they would be on the hook for whatever comes out of ch11.

I am hopeful that someone can pull a rabbit out of a hat and get you guys through this thing intact, but I know what I would be doing if I worked there...
