So we need some intel. If the problem was inspectable and fixable quickly most operators would have their engines and pylons already being taken off and ready to be renovated, awaiting NTSB/FAA/Boeing procedure. Are your MD-11s sitting on the ramp/in the hanger with nothing done or are they dropping engines off the wings. The one caveat to this line of reasoning would be if this occurrence was a one off maintenance failure such as AA 191. If your operator was sure it was going to be a one off they might delay dropping engines also.
