DCA is relatively junior. If not offered or not able to hold it in your new hire class, should be able to hold it in the first vacancy you can participate in or even trade into it through the mutual base exchange.

It’s a small status. you typically fly the trip you’re on. They don’t typically reassign you vs the other bases from what I gathered from discussions. But now that 737 is international, that may change as we become more accessible to be able to fill the holes created. But being a small base means less trip trading opportunities and less premium opportunities. And the trips that are easy to drop/move go senior. Any premium given out, goes senior with all the same names grabbing them up.

737 vs 320….. 737 is more junior right now. But I also believe the flying on the 737 is better. The bus is the better office, but 737 is the better job. Bus has multiple 4 leg days and more RJ-type flying( not complaining per se because we should be doing that flying). 737 has more 2 legs days with the occasional 3 legs and the rare 4 leg days. Personally, I’m glad I made the decision to go and stick with the 737. My ride has been fortunate due to that decision. But YMMV due to luck and timing. Last year DCA saw little movement FO wise mostly due to no new hire classes during the 2nd half of the year. As long as classes still occur, you should be able to have decent movement.

737 flying is mostly early shows, late releases. 737 also does the bulk of the BWI trips in the status. Bus is mostly focused on DCA. IAD right now is covered by other bases, but we still cover that airport for anything that may pop up.
