The majority of passengers are much more interested in schedule, price, and getting there on time with their luggage than service. While folks may gawk at the "a la carte" pricing, it actually makes sense. If you've got one guy who WANTS an aisle seat, make them pay for it. Otherwise buy a ticket and sit where there is a seat. I kinda like how SWA is doing it - you buy a ticket to get on the flight, if you want a specific seat pay more.
Same with baggage. People pack too much already. I don't agree with charging for the first suitcase however. I'm hoping they'll drop it soon.
