DISCLAIMER: could be fake news, but My understanding was there was some protection from a sleepy senior FO suddenly deciding to bid captain when there were displacements going on across the system. Less bump protection, but a freeze on others. Almost like prevention or mitigation of a flush bid.
We don’t have any transparency in our vacancy bidding as our preferences aren’t public nor data as to the most senior/junior pilots attempting an award.
A displaced pilot can go into any category where there is a pilot junior to them. A senior pilot needs a vacancy to be awarded a spot.
