Nah, I wouldn't say eggshells. People who draw the ire of management seem to have earned it several times over, as well as have been given multiple opportunities to course correct and not taken them. Just be normal and try to do a good job. That's all it boils down to.
But yeah, I've generally liked DM in terms of decision making (commuter hotels being the lone exception), but I found his tone a little grating. It doesn't matter to me--I'm in the PNW and intend to stay there. I didn't think the admonishment was warranted.
