If you like Cognac you'll go bonkers over Calvados. French export and sell the world Cognac, they keep the Calvados (mostly) to themselves

Agreed—I did all these things. I brought back Calvados from Carentan! I used a fabulous and very affordable AirBnb in Bayeaux and hub and spoked to a new location daily. I also did some side roads and ended up at Brecourt Manor and the battlefield site of the four guns that the boys of Easy silenced.
If she is still there, Madame Gondre operates an old family restaurant at Pegasus Bridge and served us lunch. She and her family were the first liberated family in Normandy.
One benefit of visiting in October was that Point Du Hoc was desolation level empty. My father and I had the entire area to ourselves.
Every square inch of Normandy has something to see. I will go back again one day.
