Punitive or not pilots called in sick when they couldn’t make their commute. Guys commuting in from close airports were the most affected by the low WX. That’s when I was called out on reserve. The same dynamic is happening at all airlines based at SFO.

I’d say threatening to close a base because of sick calls is a lot more punitive and this threat is to the entire pilot group at our “union protected” airline.
