The ipad has made reviewing stuff at the gate before the plane arrives easier but I don't have access to the log book yet either. I guess I'm just bad at my job because I generally don't go the extra mile or rush.
On my plane we can review the last few pages of the logbook from our ipads. But I have literally never felt the need to open my ipad at the gate unless it's to check icrew 😂
You always seem to be on the opposite side of every consensus in this forum. This job is not that hard. If you're that rushed and pressed for time that you can't do a walk around, then something is going on and you probably need to evaluate whether you're being rushed by some kind of external factors.
Edit: also, guess what the FO is doing when you're doing the walk-around? Looking up MELs and reading the flight plan/NOTAMs! They'll probably tell you about them during this thing called the departure briefing.
