I mean how are you going to solve it? Can't trade with family? Can't trade with people who's primary residence is within 1 mile of yours, since you might be friends? Need to check a box on every trade certifying that you don't know the guy from Adam, and have no relationship with him?
The problem is that it's a total non-starter to use "motive" as a basis for trading policy. Whatever scheme you come up with has to apply equally to everybody, and I suspect the unintended consequences would be worse than the problem supposedly being solved.
It’s been mentioned a few times. Hawaiian contract has restrictions around summer and Christmas vacation. If a pilot decides they don’t want that vacation then everyone junior to that pilot gets to bid on it again. Seems perfectly reasonable and eliminates any possibility of nefarious vacation trading. Just because you and your buddies don’t do it or heard of it doesn’t mean it’s not an issue. Why should the junior person be able to get Christmas vacation through a trade? Vacation should be use it or let others have it. Not something that you can horde and trade away for favors.
