Call me crazy, but there are certainly times I would rather fly the trip than get pay at the end of the year, or pay to stay home. I got a call from a management pilot asking to buy my trip once. He was nice and asked vs just taking it. I told him the truth, I would rather fly my trip. He said thanks and moved on to another trip.
Hah, I’d take the trip buy and pick something else up over it if you’re set on flying. Even the best trips here aren’t worth doing for free.
