That only makes sense if you look at the bottom of the seniority lists. When you consider the top side of the seniority lists, "relative seniority" gives the Frontier pilots a huge disadvantage and a windfall for the Spirit pilots. Remember post 9/11, Frontier was growing like a weed while Spirit was a stagnant junket airline. Indigo Partners bought Spirit and started growing them like a weed just prior to Frontier's BK, which created a 4 year pause on hiring at F9. The projected "relative seniority list" during the first merger attempt put Spirit pilots ahead of some Frontier pilots who were hired up to 10 years earlier than the relative Spirit pilots. Not fair...and especially now. We'll see.
