It's probably worth a call. I've flown with multiple ex-skywesters that have admitted they were doing it until they were told that it's not kosher here. One ever said he knows of some friends who were still doing even after being told. Not saying it's all malicious, but it's not a stretch to assume they'd make up a larger share of the offending group considering it was OK over there.
