717 used to be senior. That was over a decade ago. There used to be CA pay and FO pay with no difference between fleets. Once the pay for widebodies started going up more than 717, more senior people went after the money. The top third, maybe top half of the 717 CA list has been pretty consistent, everything below that is a revolving door.
What percentage of 717 lines have layovers? Being a 717 pilot at Hawaiian was probably the best airline pilot job in the world if you're a family man. It really sucks that Southwest forced you to have overnights on neighbor islands, so it totally makes sense why it'd go stupid junior now.
