On the 717 you do a turn, then take a 321 crew to maui, fly some more. Layover on outer island . Wake up do a turn, take that same 321 crew home from maui. Then do another turn. That 321 crew is getting paid 12+ hours and the 717 crew is getting 10. Once 717 pilots realized this then it was a no brainer.

Yes 2 days go junior. Day trips with 4 legs or less tend to be the most senior, that or airport reserve.
