Is it normal/allowed to transfer to be LGA based temporarily to take advantage of the paid family leave? And then transfer back to my normal base after the leave ends? (Even if base transfer awards don’t line up perfectly and I end up having to commute for a month or two, that would likely be worth having a whole paid year off)
I have a friend at Delta who did this. ATL based, bid NYC for a brief period to time and then took a year off to have a kid and got half pay via all the various leaves and bid back to ATL when time was up. I didn’t track all the ins and outs but it sounded like a great deal.
