It’s always tough to ask for a 10% raise and many other asks when the company is not profitable. To compare contracts to your boss with companies that are profitable. If you were the boss, how would you react? NK puffed their chest and took 2 contracts with big asks. Now they sit looking for a dance partner or a CJO elsewhere. Essentially priced themselves out of a job. Of course, there are always other factors in the failure of an airline but if F9 buys NK, it will be worse.
I’d argue that their strict adherence to the ULCC model rather than adapting to a changing market environment had a much larger affect on their current state than any labor contract.
