And I suppose Stalin was a "firm but fair" leader, right? You may want to stop placing faith in leftist revisionist history books, the daily kos, and the new york times.

(comparing Stalin to Chavez? Whatever

.)
Do you two have information that he wasn't? Or is it because he is a socialist and you don't think that people have actually elected socialists democratically? If you think that, y'all should review your history.
The 2006 Venezuelan election was overseen by the European Union, Organization of American States, National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the Carter Center. It was unanimous that the election was free and fair. The only ones that dispute it are people such as yourselves, right wing media organizations and the big oil lobby that had no hand in the actual election monitoring. Sorry, consternation is not enough.
I predict that you will just say that election monitors were all in bed with Chavez. If so, here is a preemptive "whatever"
To be fair, there are allegations that Chavez had an unfair advantage during the
campaign (access to air time, etc) but, unless you can present evidence to the contrary, regardless of your politics, the election itself was fair.
