to correct the statement above. AA has free entertainment via WiFi on all flights. It isn’t on a seat back screen is all. A weakness for sure but they do have entertainment. Internet is finally free but you must have an AAdvantage account.
I would way rather have NO seatback IFE ever, period: not only is it obnoxious having someone tapping on the back of my head nonstop the entire flight, it’s also a super distracting source of light contamination on an overnight flight when I’m trying to sleep, and/or trying to actually get something done that requires my brain…like ya know, “reading something that requires an IQ above 15.”

The obsession with in-seat IFE as if not having it is some atrocity—without considering its multiple downsides—is basically a testament to the fact that most of our society now has the attention span of a goldfish, and can barely make it 15 minutes without constant tapping/swiping/empty dopamine hits without having a minor panic attack. It’s really sad.
