They do it because those are maintenance bases, so they need to flow the planes in and out to get worked on, often on the night shift. So they'd be paying for hotels if they didn't have a base.
The Bro was pretty repetitive lol. But on the CRJ, you'd flow through other hubs and get a variety of flying. We even flew 700's at one point.
That was all a few years ago.
