Even if Delta disabled auto accept or if the MEC voted in a MOU to get rid of it (god forbid), pilots will still MANUALLY raise their hand for close-in coverage. Yes --- pilot's won't be able to put their phones in DND overnight with auto-accept on like many do now. But when the phone rings and there's a chance for M7, pilots will absolutely raise their hand in ARCOS. I see some doing it now yet never fly anything after being awarded a trip.
The cat is out of the bag. Pilot's are 100% forcing the company to invoke 23M7 in hopes of being the paid pilot. Once QS gets here, have at it! As a pilot who lives ~2 hrs. from base, I think having 200 OOBWS pilots with AA will help many in base pilots get their crack at QS #2, #3 etc. Time will tell. Not sure about you all but I would be okay with ALL same-day OT getting awarded as QS. Larger categories will 100% have that ability to force the issue. It's snowballing to that point now with IA (albeit with the free-for-all, non-seniority & deal making bs).
For those of you all upset about this new paradigm shift, I'm sorry. Take the 50,000' view. This hurts the company way more than it hurts the pilot group. The entire pilot group as a WHOLE is making MORE $ due this new normal. I understand you may not be, but I'm guessing that you can afford it. Getting furious about your missed GS for a couple of months is short term thinking. Get onboard or just keep complaining, but 23M7 is not going to change any time soon. For the near term it will just continue to snowball. But hey.... maybe just maybe you can learn about becoming a farmer and make up some of that difference?! All jokes aside, once QS gets here (hopefully in 2/3 months) much of the pilot pain points of this trip coverage mess we are in get mostly solved. Remember.... we are in for the long game!!!
FWIW, I spoke to my rep today and they said the $100M figure for December was VERY inflated. He wouldn't give me the exact figure they had but said even though it's no where near $100M/month it's still absolutely getting noticed. That's a wonderful thing for section 6!

P.S. And for the record, I'm 100% on-board with this all changing and being "fixed" in the next contract. But it better not come free (a la batch sizes)!!!
Easy to tell everyone else to hold the line. I am personally losing at least 21 hours per month in earnings. Those 21 hours used to required half a day’s work. Watching my trips go to pilots almost two decades junior to me is infuriating.
That being said I am not engaging in dealmaking, am not struggling financially, and can afford to live without premium pay. It still doesn’t make it right. Losing $50-100k in earnings isn’t chump change.
