I'm not advocating for the 80 year olds to be able to throttle down, it would be a win for everyone if we tied the FA mandatory retirement age to social security retirement age and bring back the enforcement of fitness requirements.
I don’t think the SS age thing would pass muster but they should really be required to demonstrate that they can open an over wing exit (and fit out it too). The idea that in an emergency all they need to do is tell an ABA how to do it in a plane filled with smoke flames and screaming pax borders on criminal negligence in my opinion.
