I’ll be a commuter. Wanted the 75ER but some of the info here and a mentor has led me to now favor the 320. Wanting ATL asap for when we relocate down south from the NE.
Long term plan is to relocate to Florida (18 months from now). Yes I know commuting sucks and if we hate it PTC is always on the table.
Ideally looking for a platform that’s easy to commute and shorter legs (1-2 time zones). Currently Air Force heavy driver and I’ve had enough of Europe and 8-12 hour flights for the next decade.
I don’t know what I don’t know but this forum has been super helpful.
Any input is appreciated.
Not all FL-ATL commutes are equal. Most of FL is littered with commuters, last time I checked there were >500 within 100NM of MCO. The panhandle is easily drivable at 300-325 miles, I currently commute from central FL (usually MCO, but GNV DAB MLB TPA and SRQ are all options) and I'm right at 400 miles to drive to ATL. The breakeven point, time wise, to fly vs. drive for me is about 350 miles with the backup flight requirements. I've seen and done it both ways, and it really comes down to personal preference and the frequency of ops from your home airport.
Shorter legs and 1-2 time zones, 717 any day, twice on Sunday, but getting to ATL quickly may be an issue. Feel free to PM if you have specific questions.
