In general you can do two years CC and then finish out at State while working part time, and hopefully living at home. Other off campus with roommates. If we're talking aviation that degree would be more than sufficient.

With that said I am in no way endorsing the bloated, excessive cost of higher education. But for now, that's the game you have to play.
I did the same. Went to JC until I qualified for in state tuition.
