Every transport category A/C has a warning light indicating the pitot heat is off (courtesy of NW Airlines). So yes, all transport A/C have their pitot heat on takeoff to landing.
On the DA42 light twin theres also a warning msg stating pitot heat is off...
I believe this crash went on record as the most expensive single aircraft accident.
