I got the TBNT end of Jan. 18 years at my current 121, 15,000hrs. 3500 turbine PIC, 3 types (j41, E145, A320 (11k), 2 college degrees, no failures or violations, multiple volunteer positions, 6 letters (1 from a previous mentee). No job fairs. No meet n greets, just basic merit, which made it sweeter. Applied in Oct. Email in Nov.(honestly tears of joy from the wife) . Took Hogan in Dec (easy). 47 years old. 25 years 121. Interview was a layup. Reviewing 25 years of data, double checking 15k hrs, prepping TMAT, even had my college transcripts, no letters from mom or 1st grade teacher though. plus coming out of the holidays did no favors . Biggest choke job since Canada in hockey. Too soon? They probably needed to check my blood pressure to see if I was alive. Not a NK guy either. I simply ran out of gas. Made it way too hard. Fired of the 13 items in record time too. 3 to 1 calculation, my brain just wanted to add numbers every time I saw them. Over prepared to the point, I probably couldn’t pass the Denny’s waiter interview. All on me. Awesome people, campus, presentation, everything was 1st class & happy. I know I genuinely smiled once when I took the tour. Was told Sept class, vacancy every base, 2500 for 2026. Would had better chance if had a wheelchair and Life support machine hooked up to me. Honestly nothing bad to say, and glad the NK guys got picked up. I wouldn’t have hired my corpse either. I didn’t know my favorite color at that point. Hardest part was making the decision to go for it
*FYI I interviewed in 2008 and made it through, waiting on a class. 1000 furloughed that April. Just at a dead end.airline where everyone is waiting for a merger. Why wait for something you’ve always wanted. So this wasn’t ego, money and my only app out there. Definitely didn’t deal with, I was owed this. I had to finish something I started or my 8 year old self would have disowned me, no violins only tasteful dumb@ss jokes allowed. Probably should have ate some mango before (Seinfeld).
