The REAL subject is what are work rules worth? At ASA a union sits watch and provides the force of contract law (RLA) if the company violates a rule. At SKW, the company "interprets" a work rule out of existence or just blatantly violates it, you have no recourse. You just whine a little, start organizing a union drive, JA counts the votes, adds a little pay raise with a lot of propaganda just to be sure he wins, and presto! Nothing changes. Those 18 month upgrades are gonna be hard to keep now that XJT won't be subsidizing SKW growth. The main reason SKW has seen that fast a seniority progression is because they bought ASA and rebranded ASA flying under Delta, yes EXISTING ASA flying, as SKW flying. They also did the same thing with Skyway and their pilot group. Now watch the next few years as the industry contracts and there isn't the new aquisition to cannabalize. I wish all the SKW pilots the same good fortune I wish all other pilots. We all need to see a little more stability even though we knew this career was not stable. I have always wanted to see SKW do well as other carriers. I just never supported other pilot groups suffering under SKW Holdings so SKW pilots could have it better. We ALL should have it better based on our own merits at the companies we work, not because our CEO paid your CEO a bunch of money and now you sit stagnant while I advance.
