It is perhaps unfortunate and uncomfortable but our industry and more specifically our company will never be devoid from international geopolitics. We may need peace to prosper, but sometimes diplomacy really does us no good. Remember that the east coast wide body really is a shell of its pre covid self. While Covid is over the Russia/Ukraine war is not. Nor is its closure of Magadan Center (Russian Airspace) to all aircraft registered to countries that are participating in the economic sanctions against Russia that continue to hamper our far east ambitions. Think of lost revenue this causes the company without the ability to fly to Mainland China from the US East Coast. This is an example of our company not maximizing our potential coming from direct result of diplomacy and other forms of non military pressure which include sanctions. These tactics more often than not fail rather than succeed and that certainly has proven true for Russia/Ukraine.
In Iran's case, diplomacy and historic legal norms provide an umbrella to pursue ideological strategic aims using asymmetric warfare while denying conventional response and providing time and space to achieve nuclear deterrence.
Due to the Likud's government unwillingness to try diplomacy or at the very least refusal to tolerate the Islamic Republics buy time tactics, the TLV market for us may be temporarily shut down here and there, but usually returns quickly, where as Russian airspace has been closed since 2022.
