Absolutely, 100% right-on, Bob. AA is a LOSER airline compared with CO. If you're even a new-hire at CO, you've got a great future; but at AA, even 10-11 yr F/Os are looking at a long wait for upgrade. Returning 47 mainline jets (MD80s/757s) doesn't help matters, either (especially since all 757s are going to DL).
