While true it is definitely not the norm and rare to find ones that want to do their job. I actually thanked a younger low seniority crew because they were eager to serve the customers. Very rare across all levels of seniority. I just had a crew of FAs not serve and it was barely a nibble of very light. But I heard the ones in back say it was too bumpy in the back. Then they asked me if I could turn the seatbelt sign on. Yeah NO! Another clown called me and tells me with 25,000 hours that in his professional opinion (170xxxx) that I should turn the seatbelt sign on. Barely light and we were going down to smooth in 30 seconds. Yeah another no.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve briefed that it’ll be smooth and they should be good to at 10k, and then 5 minutes later I get “so are you going to call us when we can get up”?
