I always stay at one of the B&B's in Horley. About 1 mile from LGW, with free pick up. About 10 minute walk to the Horley station and 40 mins by train to Victoria Station. Horley is a nice little village that rolls up the sidewalks about 6PM. Good food at the Six Bells Pub. B&B folks can give you directions. About 5 mins walk from most B&B's. Website below.
