Knowing the QRH word-for-word isn't the point of knowing your memory items. The point of it is knowing what to do in what order to do it instantly when it happens without having to look it up.

That goes for flows as well. I remember back in the 50, the engine start flow, in my head, would be "Off, off, on, off, on, start" not "Thrust lever is shutoff, generator is selected to off/reset, fuel pump on, packs selected off, ignition A/B selected, start button push"
Now the start flow on the 700/900 is just "off, on, start"
I hear ya but that's what they want on the test in ground school now. And make sure you know the "notes"... the list things below the command.
