One question--like ripping off a bandaid, do you think this method is better than mutiple excess bids by getting the pain over quickly? I'm not junior on a seat, so I admit I probably haven't looked at this under the microscope like some of you...but is there any advantage to having mulitple excess bids instead of doing it this way?
I think it is like the bandaid analogy, just get it done and over with.

I truly am starting to think that the only reason for multiple excess bids is that you have to have that 1st one to excess from the junior plane that, in effect places someone "extra" in every crew position. This then allows you to justify the "1 Excessed per seat" which allows the company to do a "bump & flush."

I also feel that this is a total legit way of getting rid of the highest paid SO's (the NDs,) ending the Purple Nugget passover situation, and having the junior seat maned by the junior pilots. Think of it, 110 Widebody FOs need to go. I would guess that at least 30 or so will choose to commute to ANC to keep their pay. Nuggets, to a 727 or 757 you will go. The remaining widebody FOs will come back to Narrowbody FOs. Then that many FOs will need to go. SOs that got FO positions, will go back. The 727 Nuggets may also now come back to the back seat.

Re-read FCIF 08-0316, "This process will continue until the only position in excess is the junior crew position." This is a quick bid, but it will be significant. Make sure to have your standing bid COMPLETE (with seats listed UNDER your current one), just in case you get excessed, it's at least to a seat you prefer.
