Once again, the Excess equation every seat needs to become familiar with is:
# Excess Bid Target + # Inbound Pilots - # Bid to Relieve = # Actually Excessed
...thus, even with an Airbus FO target of 40, if 60 more senior pilots bid "into" the seat and only "20" Airbus FOs "bid to relieve", then 80 guys would be excessed (40+60-20=80)
...same math holds true for those seats with an Excess Bid Target of 1.
...and all of this can happen on the same bid.
