That’s because our contract is still in effect and has a specific process for the Jumpseat. List prior to 24-hours, and the most senior pilot (or 2) own the Jumpseat. List inside 24-hours, and the first pilot (or 2) to check in own it.
Much better policy than just showing up at the gate and praying. Plus it counts for our commuter policy which only requires one flight prior to show.
So any Jumpseating on HAL aircraft must honor the HAL contract, which requires the above process and obviously prioritizes HAL pilots.
