While I'm not an airline pilot, I'm in the Business Jet/Charter side of things for now and would like to go cargo (UPS!) someday but it's a good idea to work on your PPL when finances allow and spend as much time at your local airport as possible. Pick up odd jobs there if you can--a job at an FBO as a CSR or a line guy is a great way to establish connections and meet plenty of people who can help you out in the future. That's how i got in the right seat of a Citation when I only had 300hrs total time.
