That mindset is certainly embraced in flight ops. The managers under Gumm are each a combination of Delta ideologues, pilot-haters, imbeciles, and self-serving buddy ******.
Gumm can’t get fired. The next guys up are even worse than he is, if that’s possible. Picking a pilot at random from the seniority list may actually be a better succession plan.
The 4th floor is a huge exercise in groupthink. Everyone up there is living in a different reality than the rest of us. There will be no firings at the top. Only pats on the back all around. Regardless of operational outcomes, they all look in the mirror and see leaders.
