I use USAA and bundle my umbrella insurance with home and auto. I am worried I may be missing out on career specific umbrella insurance?? Does anyone have any recommendations or any experiences using umbrella insurance or how high of a limit per occurrence one should have as a pilot??
Delta carries insurance for accidents. It’s just a reality. View your umbrella as your assets (less qualified credit protected, such as your 401k) and have at least that much. If you have teenage drivers it should be mandatory. Normally not expensive or difficult to carry until you get over about $5M. Mine just renewed at about $1100/yr for $5M. You will need to ensure your home and auto coverage matches the policy requirements (meaning healthy amounts to start).
