I only wear a lanyard out of uniform when on the jumpseat. Otherwise I don't wear it in the back obviously. That way I maintain my incognito cover which certainly isn't blown by my crew bags, my polo and black pants, or my mustache.
The average traveler can't even find their seat in an airplane with numbers and letters for them to sit in. Now even the friggin IFE has the seat number on it.
I could care less if other crew see me in incognito mode. They and some airport staff are the only ones coherent enough to see or care. The family of 5 going to MCO chasing 3 ADHD kiddos ain't gonna care that I have black pants and some cool guy luggage.
