Military pilots should be at the end of a 10 year service placed on an equal footing as a 10 year RJ captain of 5000 hours or equal in FAR135/91 private jet ops.. They don't fly as much but they're quality of flying is arguable (usually) higher and better documented.

I think attitudes like that which make one appear as though he's got a "chip on the shoulder" and are anti-military are not helpful in any dialogue for bettering the profession.. no more than the rare guy who thinks that his timing for military service should give him the upper hand over a pilot who might have come up in a time of military drawdowns..
