I disagree. My AME has made some statements that make me question HIS mental state. The idea that I am going to be evaluated by guy who believes in aliens and that Bill Gates put chips in the COVID vaccine is a little terrifying.
And I have also met a few AME Special Issuance doctors, I wasn't impressed either. They might be great at administering an objective test, but I find it hard to believe an AME who might be senile themselves who has spent the last 25 years referencing old medical standards from the 1960s is going to be proficient enough to administer some new cognitive test.
Just look out our own government. Apparently identifying zoo animals means you passed the most strenuous cognitive test.
I see your point on calibration standards and the resulting accuracy of such tests. Some of the tests are computer scored which takes the subjectivity out of it, but there is still a human component involved. Given the depth and breadth of testing + the administrative difficulties = more reasons to keep things as they are.
