Now me I have 1000 hours and all ratings/licenses up to commercial multi, so I have done the work to get the license to fly. I decided to go a different route in aviation instead because I don't think anyone could pay me enough to be gone as much as some of y'all are but I respect each of you for being able to do it.
But there is a large portion of pilots that ask about a million questions about things that are able to be done yourselves and just don't want to do it and want to be told instead of reading. But yes there are employees that do not do their job, that is everywhere and no one should need there handheld as we are all adults hired to do the job specified and trained to do. But what I think a lot of the pilot group gets upset with and don't understand somehow is that there is thousand + things that could possibly go wrong with just every flight operationally, if it be something on the ramp, plane, weather, hotel, GT, etc. But when something does go wrong, as it will, the person you talk to most of the time gets the cursed at and upset pilot on the other end of the line when it isn't even them that messed up. I get it we all lose our cool, but when its every time you talk to the same person, they always have an attitude about something it becomes a personality and not losing your cool. and you know why the toilets are stocked, some group of people like to put stuff down toilets that shouldn't.
You say we are pointing the pilot group in a negative light because the forces are what encourage that. But have to know as a pilot yourself unless you don't talk to any of the others, that there is a portion of people that are in the pilot group that do have multiple gf and ex-wife's and talk about it proudly. At least the pilots that come through MEM, I have heard it talking or eavesdropping on conversations by at least 200 different pilots just being in the pilot lounge with y'all. Now I know it's not everyone and that is my fault that I said 90% but if I have personally heard 200, I know there is plenty of others.
The biggest issue is that y'all have been frustrated for at least the past 6 years without a contract, and that is fair and understandable. If I was in your shoes, I would be too, but taking those frustrations out on the people you have to talk to is the wrong people. I promise you our frustrations are with the same upper management and VPs as your frustrations are but the pilot group and the rest of employees going back and forth doesn't help anything.
About the raise I was just trying to let you all know that like to come on here and say it wasn't enough, some of the reasons it probably isn't higher is because of people in your own group that don't understand how to behave at work. Like I said I really could care less, I think it's been long enough and should have been done in 2020 but some are upset about it because they think that with some of y'all holding back flying it has prevented other employees here from getting raises. But probably walking around the lobbies here saying to vote no isn't the brightest thing as your group's decision effects every employee here if you realize it or not.
I will tell you about illegal trips, we can't even make an illegal trip and assign any pilot to it. If it's illegal the system is made to block us from assigning someone to that trip and it is not possible to be overridden so you can call all you want to the schedulers, but they will tell you the same thing every time. The system looks at your schedule and will give them a reason why it won't work, all the legalities are implemented in there. There also has been more than 1 episode but keep sweeping it under the rug like it doesn't happen and deny that some of the pilot group is just lazy terrible humans that can't control emotions. I am not saying it was you, I was just letting it be known since it seems like most of the people that comment on here think that the pilot group can't do/be wrong. I know it's not all of y'all.
No, it doesn't tickle me fancy to think of you in a pacifier, but it would help me do my job without having to deal with complaining constantly everyday about every little inconvenience that happens to you. and you may not be that kind of pilot but there is to many of those kinds here at this company. I know you have had to at least deal with a couple of them in your time here. But the people that work with the pilot group deal with them every day cause of how many. There is some of y'all who are amazing and go and show up and fly and go home at the end of your trip and if something happens in your trip you just accept it and keep going and its great. Some pilots even enjoy working here and are proud to so no not all of you are bad, but my point is if all you do is to complain on here about this company and having to fly for them, why not go somewhere else? I understand if your less than a few years from retirement but if it's that dreadful to come to work then why not retire early?
Now I will tell you straight up, I am under an Alias because I don't have the privilege that the pilot group has where it is near impossible to be fired. I can be fired for no reason since its the state of TN. Some of the pilots get their feelings hurt and go to your fleet management and try to get employees fired. But if you want to PM me, I am more than happy to tell you who I am and what departments I have been in. I have no issue with the pilots here as a whole, my issue comes from the ones work here but yet come on here and bash the entire company or worse show up to fly and are disrespectful, and non-professional to everyone they interact with that's a non-pilot.
Fair enough. and I know, I have also dealt with terrible pilots at fdx who treat everyone like garbage and blame it on their sciatic nerve, and all we can do is call them out and point out their terrible behavior. most of us you never hear from, but that 5, 10 percent, yeah, insufferable.
I am retiring early. as soon as this contract gets signed, it’s on to greener pastures.
let’s just say that I am no longer in alignment with the corporate culture, but that it was, every now and again, fun while it lasted.
peace.
