There are also pilots out there that would like to fly for UPS at 1/2 of my current pay, but they aren't going to have the chance to do that. 280 sounds like a nice chunk of change, but 8 years from now it will only buy exactly as many groceries as it will buy today, just as the figures tossed around for us at the start of the contract are only representative of the pay at the amendable date of our last contract, adjusted for inflation. It is not a net raise in real dollar terms.

This is a company that has quadrupled earnings since we last signed. I'm not going to take credit for that profit increase, I'm not going to say I deserve a share of it, I'm just gonna say that I WANT some of it. I hope to see us move forward and share the company's success in ALL areas, not just tread water and stay in one place.
