I'm the father of an autistic child. I had UAL pass bennies when I was a UAX pilot. My daughter is completely unpredictable and cannot be reasoned with, but thankfully only passive aggressive when forced to behave.
She has never seen an airliner and could not comprehend her need to stay seated & buckled during critical phases of flight. So, I did the right thing, car travel only, with a supporting crew the president would envy.
I would never put her or anyone else in harms way. So, while I wasn't there to observe, I support a crew doing the right thing, even if it "looks bad" in the press.
I'm sorry to hear about your child. As a parent I fully understand your love and devotion but I can’t begin to understand your sacrifices and struggles.
