Tpersuit... again "here we go". I would appreciate the respect as a professional pilot for you to observe the saying "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything". In the world of technology that includes what you type. I have grown up around this aviation 121 world since I could talk- figure it out, if I live in MEM and occasionally reference FDX folks. You obviously don't remember how things were in the 90's. Delta and United had the best contracts, places like FDX and UPS were "just jobs". Now look at the industry. I am not bashing a single group and will never bash a group, especially a fellow ALPA group. Your lack of respect for fellow aviators is more disturbing than your words.
Now back to the thread. I do not make a ton of money at PNCL but I did clear $28K on my W-2 last year with most of the year on first year pay. With 90+ hour lines I still had 14-16 days off most months. Many months I had over 100 hours of credit between a 95 hour line and delays/swaps/yada yada. For the year I flew 975ish hours (sched bought me off 1 trip to keep me away from 1000). 99% of the pilots here are in Unity- talk about working with a good pilot group. Everyone is great to work with! I have compared paychecks with my friend at AWAC- sure he will make more on 2nd year pay (until 9E gets a contract which is in "end game" negotiations) but when you calculate the costs of a crashpad, airport car, and TIME, he doesn't make more. Money is far from everything. If my wife had her way I would probably stay an FO until I could hold a good CA line just so I could be home (still going put my stuff in to upgrade in a couple months). My household does not have money issues. Between my wife's job and mine we do just fine but we could always use more. I took this job knowing what it paid and with the expectation of a contract and an upgrade vacancy within a couple- looks like that will work out with a little patience. For some people PNCL makes alot of sense, for others not so much. When I was looking at where to apply I had the times for everywhere but republic as I recall (I think they wanted 1500/300- I only had about 1000/250) so I made the choice that I figured would work best for me and my woman. Time will tell if my choice a couple years ago was the best choice.
