In my experience, the two type ratings with the best utility in today’s environment are the A310/320 and the B737NG. Your reasoning about the A320 type is accurate since you will be attractive to both domestic and foreign carriers. I, however, caution you to the fact that most [if not all] expatriate jobs will require considerable time in type (typically 500 hours), in order to be marketable.
